Meals on Wheels by ACC exists to address the poor nutrition and isolation/loneliness seniors experience when they want to stay in their own home but cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves. Our network of volunteers, drivers, social workers, nutritionist, donors, community partners and advocates are a formidable force against senior neglect and malnutrition. Meals on Wheels by ACC delivers more than a meal - we are a life-line and human contact for senior meal recipients. The mission of Meals on Wheels by ACC is to support and maintain the independence and dignity of older persons in their homes and communities and to prevent their premature institutionalization through the provision of a nutritious noon meal five days a week. Each meal provided is the result of many committee staff, and over 250 volunteers. Each donor dollar and volunteer hour makes this vital service possible for thousands of seniors each day of the week. The Meals on Wheels program provides a nutritious noontime meal and personal contact to homebound seniors five days a week. Approximately 2,300 Sacramento County seniors receive Meals on Wheels at home. There are program requirements to receive a home delivered meal so please contact us to find out more.
